Before you call

None of this is required. It just makes the first call shorter, because these are the things the shop will ask about either way.

• The year, make and model, and the trim if you know it.
• What happened and roughly when, and whether the vehicle is drivable.
• Whether a claim is open, and the insurer and claim number if there is one.
• Whether anyone has already written an estimate. If so, bring it or have it in front of you.
• A few photographs of the damage, taken somewhere safe. What to photograph.
• For a camper van, trailer or smaller motorhome: the length, height and anything fitted to the outside.
