A useful account of the damage
The year, make and model establish which vehicle needs attention. The impact location, visible damage and anything that changed afterward help explain the incident. A door that no longer opens normally, a warning message or a shifted exterior fitting is relevant even when it seems separate from the largest dent.
Photos taken from a safe location can preserve that starting condition. A wider view identifies the panel and its surroundings; closer views show the damage itself. This record supports the repair assessment. It does not determine whether a damaged vehicle is safe to drive.
The paperwork that travels with the vehicle
An existing insurance estimate, claim number and insurer contact prevent the next conversation from starting from scratch. Tow records and earlier inspection notes can also explain where the vehicle has been and what has already been checked. Previous repairs near the new damage are useful background.
A simple folder is enough. Keeping the incident photos separate from older photographs makes the sequence clear, and keeping the original files preserves more detail than repeatedly forwarding screenshots. Names and dates on estimates help distinguish an early assessment from a later revision.
Arrange the visit before sending the vehicle
A vehicle needs an accepted destination before it is sent to a body shop. The arrival arrangement covers the intake time, delivery location and any keys or documents required. That matters whether the vehicle is being driven in or delivered by a tow operator.
For a van, trailer or smaller RV, overall dimensions and fitted equipment are part of that arrangement. An inquiry is not a booked repair start. The first visit establishes the next assessment step, while the repair schedule follows the findings, authorization and availability for the particular job.
