Source and condition are different details
OEM means original equipment manufacturer and generally identifies a part supplied through the vehicle maker. Aftermarket parts come from another manufacturer. Used or recycled parts have previously been installed on a vehicle; rebuilt and reconditioned describe parts that have undergone further work.
Those terms should identify an actual proposed part rather than act as a general quality slogan. A new aftermarket part and a used original part differ in both source and condition. Reading the description carefully helps explain a price difference that the part name alone would not reveal.
Suitability for the particular repair
The correct part needs to match the vehicle and the work being performed. Model details, equipment and applicable repair instructions matter, including where sensors or other fittings interact with the replacement. A part category alone cannot settle those requirements.
California's insurance guidance addresses standards for non-original replacement crash parts, while the repair estimate and invoice identify the parts involved. For an owner, the useful information is the specific part proposed, its stated condition and the reason it belongs in the repair plan.
Availability, preferences and payment
A listed part and a part ready for installation are not the same thing. Delivery status can affect scheduling, and a change in availability may introduce another choice. Any different part should remain visible in the revised estimate rather than becoming a surprise at collection.
An owner's preference and an insurer's approved payment may also differ. The price and authorization for an alternative belong in the decision before ordering. Retaining the final invoice records what was actually supplied, together with any written terms that apply to that part or the completed repair.
